Billings holds on for 4-3 win against Bozeman

The Bozeman Icedogs tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Billings Bulls held on for a 4-3 victory.

Billings made the score 2-0 on a goal by Stephen Thompson at 15:58 in the second period, and Bozeman got as close as 2-1 when Steven Nisbet scored 1:45 into the third period.

The Bulls\’ offense rang up 44 shots on the Icedogs\’ net. Team could not crack Bozeman\’s penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Billings was led by Cody Phillips, who racked up three goals. In addition, Billings received assists from Ralfs Karelis, who had three and Colter Endy, Orri Haman, and Tristen Heinrichs, who each chipped in one.

The Icedogs were led by Gunnar Mogck, who had one goal and two assists. Mogck scored 15:14 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Ryan Erickson assisted on the tally. Bozeman also got a goal from Chase Engdahl as well. More assists for Bozeman came via Jake Nicks, who had one and Kegan Couture, who had two.

Ray Smith made 17 saves for the Bulls on 20 shots. Billings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Zach Skop rejected 40 shots on goal for Bozeman. The Icedogs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
