Helena downs Bozeman, 2-1

Jay Forbes registered one point to lead the Helena Bighorns to a 2-1 victory over the Bozeman Icedogs.

Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Bighorns were held below their usual level of production. Helena averages 4.2 goals per game. Bozeman was unable to stop the Bighorns from sending pucks towards the net, and Helena eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Matt Mohar also scored for Helena. In addition, Helena received assists from Matt Blassic, Johnny Bonta, and Blake Babineau, who each chipped in one.

The Icedogs were led by AJ Odell, who scored the team\’s only goal. Odell scored 16:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bozeman. Steven Nisbet assisted on the tally.

Grant Martens made 24 saves for the Bighorns on 25 shots. Helena totaled 48 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Steven Frank recorded 32 saves for Bozeman. The Icedogs ended with 46 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors.
