Billet Family Information

Join the Icedogs family and play a vital role in the organization’s success!

Billeting is a rewarding experience on both ends, as families provide a safe and welcoming family environment for players who are living away from their own homes for the duration of the season.

Players live with their billet families for about seven months out of the year. Usually, they will report for camp in late August and potentially stay through March/April depending on the duration of the team’s season and whether there is a playoff run involved.

Players are expected to play an active role in many aspects of family life, often serving as positive role models for younger children in the family. They are also expected to respect your rules and are held to the high standard which we expect our Icedogs players to adhere to in all areas of their life — at home, at the rink, in school, at work and in the community overall. Families will receive special benefits including a $400 monthly stipend to help with expenses, as well as two season tickets per player for being a billet.

Billeting is an experience that often results in a connection with your player that lasts a lifetime. Players often keep in contact with their billet families long after they are finished playing. You play a crucial part in giving these young men a positive experience as they pursue their dreams of playing higher levels of hockey and make a difference in these players’ lives!
