xGreat Falls downs Bozeman, 5-2

Dylan Garton had one point to lead the xGreat Falls Americans to a 5-2 victory over the Bozeman Icedogs.

xGreat Falls kept Bozeman\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Devin Day made 42 saves on 47 shots.

Others who scored for xGreat Falls included Lucas Lomax, Max Kaercher, Zachary Mese, and Marvin Simmons, who each put in one. In addition, xGreat Falls received assists from Donovan Mattfeldt, who had two and Paul Sartuche, Cody Page, Steven Goran, Johnathan Carpenter, Connor Barta, and Aaron McInnis, who each chipped in one.

The Icedogs forced the Americans goalie Erik Powell to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Bozeman was helped by Weston Blatter, who grabbed one goal. Blatter scored 8:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bozeman. Patrick Anaruk also scored for Bozeman. More assists for Bozeman came via Chase Engdahl and Jake Nelson, who contributed one a piece.

Powell recorded 30 saves for xGreat Falls. The Americans totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Icedogs totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
